![]() We have camped here since 2006 and boy has it gone down hill over the years. It’s one line that is for Ghost town and camp ground entrance. If you camp here don’t leave, there is no line for campers already checked in. We left camp ground one time to run errand and had to sit in a 40 minute line to get back In. Atvs, (Atvs all over camp ground and up at the ghost town.) unleashed dogs, swimming pools at rvs?! (One up hill from us dumped pool and flooded 3 sites) Neighbor checked in at 11pm. There are two camping areas, we stayed in the lower one this trip which is a little more appropriate for RVs. All toilet seats were nasty, no soap for washing hands. I rebuilt ghost town, Calico is part amusement park, part campground. Picnic table was a joke it was all warped. Which was no biggie for us we come prepared. If our door was on the side we’d have been stepping out over neighbors sewer hose and ducking to not hit their slide. Both sides had yellow poles and utilities. You could not walk down either side of our site. Had site B4 fortunately we have a small rv with door on back of unit. In the end, just go stay at a state park. However, if I am providing literally everything but the spot to park it and less than 24 hours worth of electricity and water, I expected a little more to this site. There were plenty of families when we visited. This is a nice camping spot to stay with the family, especially with all the theme parks closed due to Covid. Tip for Other Campers: You must stop by Peggy sues 50s diner. Northbound: I-15 Exit 191 (Ghost Town Rd), left under freeway to service station, left 1/4 mile. Calico Ghost Town is the place that Walter Knott's got his idea for the ghost town within Knott's Berry Farm. Maybe there should have been cable but once again, I will allow it. We camped at Calico Ghost Town & Campground in a Motorhome. One would assume that the $40 for a one night stay would maybe include WiFi but since it’s the desert I will concede. Thankfully they are easy to move for those who go to eat dinner in Barstow. If you are not at your campsite by 5pm, they will have the road blocked by traffic cones. ![]() When the sign says that the park and town closes at 5pm, THEY MEAN IT. Also note that one of these two ‘functional’ bathrooms no longer had a flush button. I believe there were six bathrooms in total and only two were ‘functional.’ One bathroom had NO door, two seemed to be permanently locked, and one would refuse to close fully. Not only do the toilet take brute force to flush (if they even do), you will have to pay $1 to use the shower for six minutes. Lets just say, if you have a camper or RV with sewer and a shower, you’ll want to use those instead. In desperate need of some TLC and guidance. ![]()
